Tras os Montes bike tour 2025

 

We are working on a tour across north of Portugal from West to East and back.

We will start by a welcoming dinner in Porto city after pick up at the airport with a stay by the river near one of the boat Pier.

Next day we get on a boat trip with breakfast and wine tasting along the Douro river for about 7h till we reach Pinhao, here everyone picks up the bike for a 45kms ride till the second accomodation.

On the 3rd day we get on the east side of the country in Braganca where you can find one of the best castles in all country. Braganca is one the finest places to visit, full of medieval history and natural beauty like Montesinho mountains and river, as well as tasting the finest local cuisine like "posta de Miranda".

4th day it's time for a day of the bike to properly enjoy the area and able to cross the border to Spain, Puebla de Sanabria where you can see higher mountain peaks that reach 2100m and glaciar lakes.

5th is time to get on the bike and head to Chaves, it's around 95kms to get to another Medieval city, here we are staying on the local Castle. Chaves is where the N2 road begins towards the Algarve crossing all country till South, making this the longest National road in Europe.

On the 6th day we get to Parque National do Geres, our best national natural park, stunning views and natural beauty, you can see wild horses and local bulls.

7th day is a day where we are back to the sea side of the country, coming from Viana do Castelo and down to Porto again along the costal route cycle lane, able to views the northern beautiful beaches.

Explorer by nature we have been exploring some of the mourish lands since the late 90s. We had a lot of exploration in the iberian peninsula and islands and lately in the celtic islands.

Our main way of explore is by bicycle, road, gravel and mountain bike but we also have a lot of kms by car and motorcycle as well as walking lots of trails.

We have been tour guiding for the last 15 years, either groups or single people.
